Meet Linda V. Koffman

Founder of Pure Longevity

The Formative Years

I grew up in a large Italian family and many of my childhood memories are centered around enjoying family dinners with my five siblings and extended family. My mother was a magician with food, and cooked every meal using fresh, local vegetables. My father was an athlete, and his mantra has always been: "Your body is a temple." At the age of 93, he still plays golf and encourages us to pursue physical activity and engage with our spirituality, through meditation and prayer.

I was fortunate to grow up in a healthy environment that nurtured my body and soul. My grandmothers were great cooks and strong women. My father’s mother was a registered nurse, and the neighborhood “go to person." She was the one that everyone turned to in their time of need. She exemplified community service and inspired me to study nursing.

My Unique Path

After graduating from Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, I worked as a registered nurse in an intensive care burn unit where I witnessed first hand the fragility and healing capacity of the human body. Soon after, I became interested in the business aspects of hospitalization and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Social Science from Binghamton University.

My interest in business drew me toward Wall Street where I spent more than two decades working for financial institutions. As a Vice President, building high-performance teams and coaching were the most gratifying experiences of my role. My work in finance helped me understand the demands of the modern financial world and finding solutions to the pressures of the workplace in a more balanced, functional way. The financial crisis of 2008 created an increasingly complex and harried environment and led me to explore alternative wellness practices including yoga and meditation.

Redefining Success

My altruistic desires energized a shift in my focus to the world of philanthropy. I began working for The Malawi Children’s Mission (MCM), a 501C3 non-profit dedicated to the well-being of orphans in Malawi. The children live in abject poverty; grass huts with no running water or electricity, no beds or blankets to sleep on.  The simplicity of their life in Sub-Sahara Africa including their connection to the earth, food choices, and eating habits inspired me to study the  mind-body connection and nutrition. In 2016, I completed the holistic health coaching program at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition®. The curriculum included preeminent dietary theories, lifestyle management techniques and holistic health practices from some of the world’s leading doctors, nutritionists, and wellness experts, including;

  • Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for integrative Medicine
  • Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine
  • Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center
  • Dr. Walter Willett, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University
  • Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating
